Yesterday was the vernissage of the WIRRWARR 08/15 exhibition in the Salão Angelim of the FURB university in Blumenau, SC.

This morning was the assembly of the WIRRWARR 08/15 exhibition in the Salão Angelim of the FURB university in Blumenau, SC.
And tonight will be the vernissage of the exhibition at 8 o'clock.

Está marcada para esta terça-feira (24/6) a abertura da quarta exposição do Salão Angelim (Biblioteca Universitária) em 2014. Trata-se da mostra WIRRWARR 08/15 de autoria do fotografo teuto-brasileiro Fabricio Schmidt. A solenidade acontece a partir das 20h e as obras ficam expostas no local até o dia 07 de julho.

Fotógrafo desde 2005, Schmidt nasceu em Vestfália, região histórica no oeste da Alemanha, e conheceu a fotografia ainda como acadêmico de Arquitetura de Paisagismo e Urbanismo da Universidade de Hannover. Residindo atualmente em Blumenau, Schmidt utiliza em seus trabalhos câmeras analógicas e digitais, e suas imagens são trabalhadas tanto com o Photoshop como também com outras técnicas experimentais de tratamento e criação.

O principal método usado por ele é o palimpsesto, técnica que consiste na reutilização de papeis usados. Nas imagens estão registradas cenas de uma moça na praia de Florianópolis, montadas e impressas em diversos tipos de materiais, como notas antigas de dinheiro, papeis gráficos, cartas e páginas de livros. A proposta de suas criações é retratar a instantaneidade da vida, as mudanças constantes das pessoas durante sua trajetória no mundo e suas renovações através dos tempos, que não encobrem os rastros de nossas experiências do passado.

O nome da exposição tem também seu significado, “WIRRWARR” é um termo alemão que significa caos e anarquia, já “08/15” também é uma expressão alemã, que pode ser compreendido, como algo normal, padrão, insignificante e nada especial.

  

A exposição “WIRRWARR 08/15” será aberta a visitação de segunda-feira a sexta-feira das 7h30min às 22h, e aos sábados das 8h às 17h.

Aufbauende Altbauten.

In December 2008 I made a photo montage inspired by the collages by David Hockney, where I stuck together two 9x13cm C-prints with a round band-aid. The building which is on the two pictures is the Waterloosäule in Hannover, Germany. I photographed it some weeks before the 2006 FIFA World Cup started in Germany. They built up the Fan Fest at the Waterloosäule, therefore the skeleton is around it. I called the photo montage "Aufbauende Altbauten" which means "building up old buildings" and is a homage to the German band Einstürzende Neubauten which means "Collapsing New-Buildings". I love the sound of this great band!

Today I made two new photo montages in the same style with 9x13cm C-prints and baind-aids.
First a montage with two C-prints from the old Conti tower at the old Conti factory in Hannover-Limmer, which I also photographed in 2006.

A mini circular frame

Today I made a mini frame out of a glass sheet from a broken table lamp. The diameter of the glass is 5,5cm.
As background I made a circular wooden sheet in the diameter 7,5cm.
To fix the both sheets I've used the original screws and metal sheets from the lamp.
The hanging system is provisional, but it works.

The picture is a 9x13cm c-print, which I cut. Now it is also circular and has got the same diameter like the glass sheet.

the exhibition of "Outros lugares, mesmos lugares: laboratório de ficção documental."

Yesterday was the vernissage of the exhibition of the works which we made in the workshop "Outros lugares, mesmos lugares: laboratório de ficção documental." hosted by Fabiana Wielewicki in the Fundação Cultural de Blumenau, Brasil.

I've showed the movie "Macuca Maluca - um FotoFilme" at the vernissage and present the movie poster (a palimpsest) and notes with the youtube address of the movie.
