FILM + DIGITAL!

Interestingly, the most-read article on this blog is FILM VS. DIGITAL?!.
I've never thought, that this issue is still a hot one!
Unfortunately, there are no comments from readers to my post. But, of course, the internet is full of opinions to this topic.

How do you think about it? Do you love film or digital or both?
Both? R
eally?
G
ood decision!

In this post are pictures,
more accurately sandwiches from an analog and a digital photo.
And yes,
the only good photographic invention in the last 40 years is PHOTOSHOP! ;)

DO IT YOURSELF: A "CONSTRUCT" PICTURE FRAME

Once more a self-made picture frame.
This one I've built out of bites of a plastic skirting board, a bamboo small board, some bolts and nuts and a strap.

I've put the picture "fast soul" in it:

DO IT YOURSELF: A CARRYING BRACKET

I have this idea from the wonderful tokyo camera style site.
There are some pictures of the original carrying bracket (here and here), which was made by a japanese photographer for his Nikon 35Ti. Of course the original is much more elegant as my attempt to build one.
But what is the reason to build a carrying bracket?
The reason is simple. Some cameras, mostly small point'n'shoot cameras, don't have lugs for a strap.

What you need:
_ some pieces of wood or metal. (I used wood)
_ some screws to connect the pieces of wood (I need 4 screws)
_ a bolt to unit the bracket with the tripod socket of the camera
_ friction tape to prettify the bracket
_ a camera strap (I used the strap of my Nikon TW Zoom)

tools:
_ a saw
_ a drilling machine
_ a screwdriver
_ a box cutter

FILM VS. DIGITAL?!

Some days ago I bought the december 1998 issue of the DIGITAL CAMERA magazine.
The headline on the cover is:
"IS IT FILM OR DIGITAL?
- IT'S GETTING HARDER TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE"

Yes, this in 1998 and they showed a Leica R5 and a Leica Digilux which has got just 1.5MP on the cover with the headline.
And even the Pro-DSLR's in that time like the Canon EOS D2000/Kodak DCS-520 had got only 2.0MP. Aehm sorry, but every 35mm-toycamera is a real full frame camera;)

But okay, for me the question between film and digital isn't important, 'cause I'm still using both systems.
Therefore comes now my camera-picture-review FILM VS. DIGITAL:

1. Kodak Instamatic 224 VS. Sony Mavica FD-73

Kodak Instamatic 224

picture:

2. Agfamatic 2008 pocket sensor VS. Canon PowerShot A200

Agfamatic 2008 pocket sensor
:
camera date: autumn 1975
film: Fuji Superia 200 (Film format: 110 pocket)
lens: Color-Agnar 1:9.5/26 mm
picture:

Canon PowerShot A200:
camera date: june 2002
pixels: 2.0MP (sensor size: 1/3.2" CCD)
lens: Canon 1:2.8/39mm (35mm equivalent)
picture:

3. Nikon TW zoom VS. Medion MD 40696

Nikon TW zoom
:
camera date: 1988
film: Ilford Delta 100 (Film format: 35mm)

4. Zorki 4 VS. Fujitsu Siemens SX530

Zorki 4
:
camera date: 1956 - 1973
film: Kodak Gold 100 (Film format: 35mm)
lens: Jupiter 8 1:2.0/50mm
picture:

Fujitsu Siemens SX530:
camera date: 2004/2005
pixels: 5.3MP (sensor size: 1/2.5" CCD)
lens: Medion 1:2.9-4.7/35-104mm (35mm equivalent)
picture:

5. Canon T50 VS. Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D

Canon T50
:
camera date: march 1983
film: Kodak 400 (Film format: 35mm)
lens: Tokina 1:3.5-4.8/35-70mm
picture:

Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D:
camera date: march 2008
pixels: 12.2MP (sensor size: 22.2 x 14.8 mm CMOS)
lens: Sigma Zoom 3.5-5.6/28-80mm II Macro (1:4 - 1:2)
picture:

CONSEQUENCE
:
What is important? film/digital or just the picture?

Forget TTL, AF, zoom lens, Power booster, full automatic, program modes, white balance...
For me the only good photographic invention in the last 40 years is PHOTOSHOP.
But even photoshop doesn't make good pictures.
YOU make the picture. YOU decide!
