the phantom!

"I don’t think about what camera I should use that much. I just pick up the one that looks nicest on the day."

William Eggleston

Did you ever heard from a Koret Korrect?

I don't think so!

I've found nearly nothing about this little camera in the internet. The only thing was, that a woman from Bolzano, Italy will sell her Koret.
This was all, but I think that this information was very useful, 'cause in the camera is written Premesa, which is a village in the province of Bolzano. Consequently the camera was made in Italy.

My Koret hasn't any more their camera cover, but I love this camera without the leather, she looks so cute!
It is a simple viewfinder for the 127 film.
One highlight of the camera is the Roll-Film Keeper for an exposed or even unexposed film.
The lens is a simple glass, like the lens of the Pouva Start, with the specifications: 1:8.8/50mm.

EDIT 19.12.2010:
I've written a thread about the Koret in the VFDKV-Forum. One member found an ebay-link, where you can buy a Koret for US$ 86!
I paid nothing for my Koret, it was a gift from a seller on a flea market as I bought two other cameras from him.
The ebay-link said that the Koret was "manufactured by Alpha Photo - Piacenza - Italy." and the year of manufacture was 1950.

EDIT II 19.12.2010:
My Koret is on Camerapedia! *YEAH!*

EDIT III 09.03.2011:
And it is on Camera-Wiki!

the beauty and the beast.

"If you want to change your photographs, you need to change cameras. Changing cameras means that your photographs will change. A really good camera has something I suppose you might describe as its own distinctive aura."

Nobuyoshi Araki

I like the opinion of master Araki, 'cause I also believe that each camera has got its own aura or rather its own soul.

In this post I show two cameras, the beauty and the beast.

The Beauty is really a beauty. A well made rangefinder from Japan out of the 1960s. I've got the Beauty Lite III alias the Beauty Lightomatic III.

The Beast is in fact not a beast, but she has seen better days. She came to me as a mangled wreck. It is a Icarette No. III A - 503 made by the glorious ICA company, which was one of the most important camera factories in the first 20 years of the 19th century.
You can find the camera in the french photo catalogue Photo-Plait of 1925 on this site.
And here you can find the original ICA cameras catalogue with pricelist of 1925 in German.

Specifications of the ICA Icarette No. III A - 503:
  • Type: folding camera
  • Years of launch: 1925
  • Film: roll film
  • Lens: Novar-Anastigmat 1:6.8/135 mm
  • Shutter: leaf shutter with speeds 1/25, 1/50, 1/100sec. , Z and B
  • Image size: 6,5x11cm
  • Size: 200 × 37× 90 cm
  • Weight: 675 g
  • Price in France in 1925: 405 Franc

A Zenit made in Brazil?! part 2!

In part 1 I wrote about the Zenit 12XSL. Now I want to show the clone of this one, the Zenit 12 PRO. Like you can see on the zenitcamera site, the Zenit 12 PRO isn't a Zenit made by KMZ. But as you can see on the page sovietcams.com it's a BELOMO: "Modern Zenits from Belarus"[...]"PB4685. Camera identical to PB4680 [Zenit 21XS], but under name "Zenit 12pro" already. At least 19973 units were released in 1996-1997. Quite rare to find nowadays." (source here).
My 12 PRO is like the 12XSL "made" by BMA in Brazil. The story about the Zenits made in Brazil you can read in part 1.

The only differences among the both cameras are:
_ the Zenit logo on the 12XSL is in green and on the 12 PRO it is in white
_ the button for the self-timer on the 12XSL is yellow and on the 12 PRO it is white
_ the scale for the exposure times are a little bit different by the cameras
_ both have got the same lenses but the rings are different

And my 12XSL doesn't works, but my 12 PRO is working! The only damage at the 12 PRO is the broken pc-socket, but this doesn't matter.

EDIT 06.04.2012: Camerapedia used these information! :)

I'll use the 12 PRO for street photography, therefore I've modified the camera a little bit. I taped the white writings and the self-timer button and made a hand grip for it like the one I built for the Praktica LTL3. The strap is from my Meikai and the pad is from my Ricoh TLS 401. I replaced the original lens for the Porst 2.8/55mm lens, which is a good and simple one.

Now the Zenit 12 PRO has got the Mind Jacker reporting name "Black Bone"!

EXHIBITION: 2010 EM PRETO & BRANCO

Today was the Noite Multicultural with the Vernissage of the FOTO CLUBE SANTA CATARINA - 2010 EM PRETO & BRANCO exhibition in the MAB in Blumenau.

The exhibition, which shows wonderful pictures from the members of the FOTO CLUBE SANTA CATARINA, is fantastic!

I'm very proud that my picture "einsame zweisamkeit" (german title) - "olho no olho"(portuguese title) is one of the pictures, which are on exhibition.

I shot this photo with my Porst FX4 alias Praktica Nova 1b and the Revuenon Special 2.8/135mm lens on Kodak BW400CN at the Heidelberg Castle, Germany in december 2005.

Now some pictures from the event and of my photo:

Every member of the club got a certificate that his work is shown in the MAB (of course, here just a copy of the original):
