A mini circular frame

Today I made a mini frame out of a glass sheet from a broken table lamp. The diameter of the glass is 5,5cm.
As background I made a circular wooden sheet in the diameter 7,5cm.
To fix the both sheets I've used the original screws and metal sheets from the lamp.
The hanging system is provisional, but it works.

The picture is a 9x13cm c-print, which I cut. Now it is also circular and has got the same diameter like the glass sheet.

take me out...

Yesterday I found at the roadside a strange looking frame, which someone threw  in the garbage. I stopped and picked up the frame.
But it's not only the frame, but also a hand colored photo of a young lady.
Unfortunately, some insects, which like to eat wood, just destroyed the frame. Therefore I just kept the photo and the acrylic, which is convex. I hung the frame at a tree...yes, a little bit of land art ;)
I still don't know what to do with the photo, but it has got some potential...

A circular wooden frame.

In the last days I made a new wooden frame out of a broken cooking pot coaster, which I bought many years ago in Ubud, Bali. It was a wonderful cooking pot coaster with carvings in the middle and at the outside with rattan, like this one here.

Unfortunately it broke in the middle and the carvings, too. Therefore I removed the rattan, which can be used to make a dreamcatcher, and the rest of the carvings. After this I glued both wooden parts together and then sanded down the wood and brushed it was waste oil.

I put a palimpsest, which combines with the circular frame, into it:

I like windows.......

Old windows are perfect to use them as picture frames. For luck I've an aunt, which had some old window frames and gave them to me... :)

One I'm using as bulletin board with the newest works and another I've used here. Now she gave me another two windows...
Here my little window frame collection:

The brown is one of the new windows. I put the triptych "the walking past" in it:

das meer, die nacht und deine liebe...

In March one of my aunts gave me an old window. The wooden frame has the size 25,9 x 88 cm and there're six little windows in the frame. They've got different sizes, the far left has got the size 18,7 x 5,3 cm, the next one has got the size 18,7 x 13,5 cm, and the others have got the size 18,7 x 12,5 cm.
But only four of them still have got the glass inside, at the far left and the far right the glass is missing.
To use it as a picture frame I cut six wood panels in the right sizes and fixed them with screws at the back.

On April 8th, when I picked up my pictures at the SAPo in Florianópolis, I was still at one of the beaches and took some photos with my Voigtländer Vitomatic II on expired (May 2012) Kodak UltraMax 400 film.

I'll use one of these pictures with the window frame, but, of course, I want to make a panoramic palimpsest out of it, because the frame is ideal for this.
As paper I'll use some pages from a German "Groschenroman" or as I call them "Herzschmerzromane" (in English "heartbreak novels") with the title "Das Meer, die Nacht und deine Liebe" (in English "The sea, the night and your love").

I made some Photoshop versions to test which picture looks best in the frame and on the paper:

version 1.1
version 1.2
version 1.3
version 1.4
version 1.5
version 1.6
version 1.7
version 1.8
version 1.9
version 4.11
version 4.12
At the end I've decided, that version 1.1 will be the best picture for this window frame!!!

In the next days I'll print the picture on the paper and put it into the window frame...

EDIT 30.04.2013:

The printed palimpsest:
"das meer, die nacht und deine liebe", brasil, 2013
Like always the printed palimpsest is different as the Photoshop version.
_

I will print the versions 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 as palimpsests, too, but will use them without a frame. I think, that I'll show them at the COLMÉIA 2013 event in August...

And here the masterplan of the work:

onde está a essência da fotografia?

"onde está a essência da fotografia?" in english: "where is the essence of photography?"

I think that's an important question for every photographer...

And here is my gedanken experiment:

First I made a triangle frame and put a strange picture in it, where I dashed the ink before it was dry. Later I stamped the question on it.

After this I made a triptych with three black&white pictures which I printed on the backside of old pictures. As next step I stamped the question on them.

Well, this is my first gedanken experiment to solve this question, but I think that there are more solutions...
