MIND JACKER

Fly away!

Today I took my business jet and flew to Brusque (SC) and New York (NY).

Okay it's just a joke. I was only in one of them. Of course I've taken some pics of the usual suspects, like the Statue of Liberty;)

But later I was in the statuary park and shot some pics:

In the afternoon I was in the zoo, but the pics aren't really good.

macro lens, effect filter and flash.

Today I pimped my Rebel XSi with:
_ Sigma Zoom 3.5-5.6/28-80mm II Macro (1:4 - 1:2)
_ Hama Effect Filter (Trick) 5-Star
_ Canon Speedlite 244T (CAUTION: Don't do this at home! The Speedlite 244T isn't a Speedlite for the EOS(digital)-series. It is just for the Canon T50! Without guarantee: It works restrictedly with an EOS-(d)slr!)
_ Battery Grip BG-E5

I just photographed in the macro range. I know that these effect filters best worked with a normal lens (at 35mm-cameras: 45-55mm) or with a zoom lens at this focal length, but I don't like normal ways;)
A very good book in german about filter is "Filter-Faszination. Alles über Filter und ihre Anwendung bei Foto und Film" by Rudolph Hanke and published by Hama.I've taken some pictures in my garden from orchids and other flowers:

After this session I pimped my Rebel once more:
The same stuff as stated above +
_ Metz mecablitz 20BC6 (you can fire it manually)
_ Porst Flashbar

This kit is very heavy and bulky, but it works extraordinary!

Mural do Portal Photos!

I'm a reader of the brazilian "photo magazine - fotografia é arte".
In the last issue (dezembro/janeiro 2010) is a report about the Mural (in english: the wall) from "Photos - O portal da fotografia".

Every week you can send a photo via e-mail to the admins of this page. A jury of pro photographers choose the best ones, which are shown on the mural. But only one of these pictures can win. The prizes for the winner come from the Editora Photos and are magazine subscriptions, books, t-shirts and photo stuff.

Okay, I thought that this is a good chance for me. I chose the picture "the cross III" and sent the picture to the admins.

And tatatatatatata! my picture is in the selection (see: "Semana 314" ("semana" = portuguese for week)) :

Hey it is my first time to participate in this contest!

The winner ("o vencedor") of this week will select in the next days!
