photos ornamented with flowers - part 5.

Today a different version of photos ornamented with flowers, in fact without flowers, but with a page from the early 20th century German book "Der Arzt im Hause - Moderne Heilmethoden, Band II" ("The home doctor - Modern methods of healing, Volume II"), published by Dr. med. M. Rann.
The palimpsest consists of a nude self portrait and not like the other works before with portraits of my girlfriend and is printed on a book page, which shows drawings of Heilpflanzen (Medicinal plants).

Also I printed another self portrait on another page of the same book, but without flowers, but an eye with icterus, urolithiasis and gallstones.

water painting...

At cleaning up today, I found my Faber-Castell Goldfaber 4100 color water-based pencils. These pencils are great, because "they can be turned into paint with the addition of water and therefore can be used creatively in many ways".
First I printed two black&white photos from the floripa session on cardboard and then I painted them. Well, the results are...naïve :)

FOCUS LATIN AMERICA: ART IS OUR LAST HOPE - MailArt project

I've participated at the MailArt project FOCUS LATIN AMERICA: ART IS OUR LAST HOPE by the Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix, USA.
The exhibition started today and will be on view through November 23 in the Orientation Room of the museum.
Also the exhibition will be at the MonOrchid Gallery, 214 East Roosevelt Street, Phoenix, USA from December 5, 2014 to January 12, 2015.

Here the wonderful text about the project:

Mail art has a rich and varied history in Latin America. Arte correo (and arte correio) began in the region in the mid-1960s with the pioneering efforts of such key figures as Edgardo Antonio Vigo, Graciela Gutiérrez-Marx, and León Ferrari in Argentina; Clemente Padín in Uruguay; Guillermo Deisler in Chile (and later Bulgaria); Dámaso Ogaz in Venezuela; Manuel Marín, Pedro Friedeberg and Felipe Ehrenberg in Mexico; and Leonhard Frank Duch, Unhandeijara Lisboa, and Paulo Bruscky in Brazil, to name just a few. On the occasion of the exhibition Paulo Bruscky: Art Is Our Last Hope at Phoenix Art Museum in Arizona, Vanessa Davidson and John Held Jr. are co-curating a mail art exhibition entitled Focus Latin America. Centered around the theme “art is our last hope,” the curators seek to revive dialogue about the challenges facing artists living in Latin America and the utopian projects they have historically undertaken to fuse artistic practice with social engagement. Created in 1983, Bruscky’s artwork Art Is Our Last Hope was envisioned as a billboard piece consisting solely of those five words. How have art and life in Latin America changed since he issued that proclamation? What meanings does this notion engender in Latin America in the 21st century?

Here a picture of the exhibition, my postcard is in the red circle (at the left of the picture):

WIRRWARR 13 - O CORDEL DA CHUPACABRA

WIRRWARR 13 – The tale of the female chupacabra

Once upon a time in the village of Carrapateira in the barren landscape of the Sertão Paraibano in the northeast of Brazil lived a young man, who was strong, clever and tough like a goat or as it was called there a cabra. His name was Zelão the son of the brave cangaceiro Capitão Herculano Villas-Bôas.

One day as Zelão took a bath in the creek in the canyons near to their camp, he was observed by a girl called Iara. She was hiding behind flowers and plants, looked quite fervently on him while her saliva ran out of her mouth. She crept cautiously to the shore, took off her dress and dived into the water. He stood with his back to her as she appeared between his legs, soared in front of him out of the water and snapped to his lips. Totally surprised after a perceived eternity of kissing he looked at her smile and fell in love with her. In the same moment she also fell in love with him. Instantly their lives changed. However, more than her life changed his life, because suddenly she attacked him, but not for kissing, yet for biting his neck, his chest, his belly, his hands, his legs, his penis and drinking all of his blood. Actually he should have died immediately, but the love of both saved his life and also hers, because the spell of the chupacabra broke away the second she looked at his lifeless body and a single tear of her dropped on his face. Embracing they dived into the water and were never seen again.
